- Post-recovery, the nipple will be tender and easily injured. It may look more pointed at first, but it will flatten afterwards.
- After a skin graft surgery, a plastic nipple protector may be sewn on to shield it. Your doctor will remove the stitches and nipple protector probably after a week.
- In case of medical tattooing, one may experience some flakiness and crusting for a few days.
- An antibacterial ointment would be recommended after the surgery to take care of the new nipple.
- Some complications include - nipple flattening or retraction, changes in the appearance of the nipple or breast, loss of sensation in the nipple or breast, necrosis- tissue breakdown, changes in the appearance or sensation of the arm, loss of pigment from nipple tattooing
